Business Unit Overrides

The Managed Software List (MSL) allows you to specify business entity overrides.  The following fields can be defined as overrides for any given MSL application:

Organization ID

Department ID

Cost Center

If any information is entered into any of the three override fields, the entered information will essentially assign the MSL application to that entity, regardless of what other business entity may be entered either through the Software Request Portal, through ASNs, or through rogue software detection.  Any transaction that causes a deployed piece of software to be recorded, or a software license to be recorded, will be assigned to the override entity(ies).

It is also important to note that overrides negate the ability to constrain software licenses to a given business entity by specifying constraints in the ASN feed.  (See how the MIE performs license allocation for details on constraining licenses.)
