Software License Management

The MIE supports a highly automated, robust software license management (SLM) system that is capable of tracking an individual copy of a software item to the specific hardware asset on which it is installed. SLM accepts automated feeds from vendors as well as several popular auto-discovery packages. It also supports an automated software request portal that allows users to request software for automated installation. The MIE's software license management capability also supports the concept of credits and debits - issuing actual financial credits to departments that harvest useable software and charging departments that order (or install) new software.
