Software License Allocation

Software licenses are sourced by the various vendors via Advanced Shipping Notices (ASNs) which, in turn, have been processed through the ASN Processor.

The MIE ONLY accepts new license information from the ASN Processor or through the Licenses menu option.

Important Fields Sourced by the ASN Processor

The following fields can be sourced by the ASN Processor.  Those marked with an asterisk are mandatory and must be present in the ASN Processor feed.

* Software Publisher, Title, and Version

The ASN Processor will match the spelling in the MIE's Managed Software List (MSL) exactly.

* License Count

One line item from an ASN may specify the purchase of more than one license.  This field defines the number of licenses purchased.

* Pseudo Serial Number

This is assigned by the ASN processor and is used to uniquely identify the ASN line item (for software line items) in case the ASN is submitted more than once to the MIE for processing (there are many valid reasons for re-submitting an ASN for processing).  This field is very important as it keeps the MIE from over-counting licenses.

* Purchase order number

Maintains traceability back to the original purchase order, to support audits.

* Date purchased

Audit support

* Price per license

Organization, department, cost center

Optional fields, however if present, each field will constrain how the MIE allocates licenses.

Hardware Asset Number

This is the asset number of the hardware asset on which the license is to be installed. Optional, however if present, the MIE will constrain allocation of this license ONLY to the asset number sent.
