S/W Licenses Screen

The Manage Entitlements screen is available via the Manage Entitlements menu option, which can be found as a fly-out of the Managed Software left menu option.  You must have sufficient privileges to see the menu option.

The screen is designed to allow you to manually enter low volume licenses as well as any necessary license adjustments.  The screen also supports attachments, allowing you to attach supporting documentation to go with the license information.

High volume license information is generally fed to the MIE via the ASN Processor.  Entries from the Manage Licenses screen are staged into the staging table by Consolidate, and look very similar to records fed by the ASN Processor.  Therefore, entries made via the Manage License screen are, for all intents and purposes, the same as entries that come from the ASN Processor.  Whatever happens to an entry from the ASN Processor will happen to an entry made by the Manage Entitlements screen. Consolidate uses the records to allocate licenses per the rules of the allocation engine.

Each time Consolidate runs, it checks the Manage Entitlements table for any records that have not yet been staged and processed.  As it stages each record, it updates the record with the following information:

1. Pseudo serial number - assigned by Consolidate, it is a number that uniquely identifies the Manage Entitlements record.

2.  Date staged

3.  Job number (of the Consolidate job that processed the record).

In addition, Consolidate also locks the record with a system lock, so that future edits cannot be made.  Once the record is locked by the system, it can only be viewed.

To make changes, you must enter an equal and opposite transaction as a new record in order to back out the first transaction, then enter the new transaction as another new record.

To remove licenses, enter a negative Item Count equal to the number of licenses you need to remove.

Note that all license actions will follow the allocation scheme.
