As part of each consolidate job, after the job has completed, various software license metrics are calculated using the Harvested Software table as the source of information. The Harvested Software table tracks all software transactions and represents the complete audit trail of all software activity for Managed Software items.
The following items are calculated using the Harvested Software table as the source, and stored back into the Managed Software table:
LicensesDeployed (Copies deployed) |
count of MSL instances that are physically installed (or authorized to be installed). Count only includes installs that have not been covered by a license as well as those that have been covered by the target MSL license (not by an equivalent). |
LicensesOwned (Licenses owned) |
count of individual MSL licenses as presented by ASN processor. (Does not include equivalents) |
LicensesEquivalentDOWN (Downbound equivalents) |
count of MSL licenses that are currently covering other (downbound) equivalent installs. |
LicensesNotDeployed |
count of newly purchased licenses that haven’t been deployed (allocated) |
LicensesEquivalent (Upbound equivalents) |
count of MSL installs that are currently being covered by other (upbound) equivalent licenses. |
LicenseAwaitingReturns (Awaiting returns) |
count of MSL licenses that have been staged as returns awaiting license coverage. When a license is presented, it will be used to nullify one that has been staged as a return. |
LicenseDelta (Delta) |
count of licenses owned minus awaiting returns minus licenses deployed minus downbound license equivalents plus upbound license equivalents (negative means a compliance issue) |
LicenseRogues (Rogues) |
count of recently discovered rogues |
LicenseMonthSavings (Savings this month) |
total license savings this month, calculated from PriceHarvested for those harvested items that went back into service this month |
In addition, the LastLicenseCount column of the Managed Software table is updated with the date of last update of the license statistics.
These statistics may be viewed by choosing to edit the corresponding MSL item. Click Master Catalog(s) from the left menu of the Asset Management module home page, then click Managed Software from the sub-menu and choose to edit the record of interest.
