Bulk Harvesting

Bulk Harvesting allows authorizations to be harvested en masse.  This is generally used to remove many authorizations at once (such as sun-setting an application or a given version), when it would be impractical to use the catch point screens.

Given sufficient access, Bulk Harvesting is available from the left menu under Managed Software.

To stage a bulk harvest, choose to add a record.  Continue by selecting the MSL title to harvest.

Based on the MSL title chosen, the screen will refresh and ask for information necessary to target the specific authorization to be harvested.

If the MSL title is set to be authorized by device - the asset number must be entered.

If the MSL title is set to be authorized by named user - the user must be selected from the drop-down list.

If the MSL title is set to be authorized by contact list - the name of the list must be selected from the drop-down.

Enter the instance of the authorization to harvest.  The first (and default) instance is 0.  The only time any other value would be entered is when there is more than one instance of the authorization on a given asset or assigned to a given user or group.

Check Push de-install package (if available) to cause an automated de-install package to be sent to the device in order to have the software automatically removed.  (Requires WDA or APS as well as defined de-install packages).  Leave unchecked if the software has already been removed or is being removed through some other means.

Save the record.

Once saved, the record will be in the Staged status. Consolidate performs the bulk harvesting, and will attempt to harvest any record in the Bulk Harvests table that is not currently in Harvested status.  (Any records that have issues, such as user/asset/group not found, will be re-tried automatically each time Consolidate runs.)

Once a record is successfully processed, it will be in the Harvested status.
