Client Operations - Workstation Data Assistant

The Workstation Data Assistant (WDA) is a compact agent that is installed and runs on the client machines. At its core, it is simply a scheduler and an installer. The scheduler interacts with the MIE to determine what needs to be done on each client machine. The installer is used to install updates as well as other client software. The Workstation Data Assistant is capable of updating itself.

Client operations include scheduling tasks and pushing software installations to workstations. These features require the use of two ESI components that are installed on client workstations - the Workstation Data Assistant (WDA) and the ESI Scheduler. Both components are installed automatically by the ESI ActiveX control according to the values for settings defined for the ESI Agent.
