Harvesting software removes authorization for an MSL application instance to be installed on an asset, thereby freeing any currently allocations license units so that they can be used by someone else.  

Software is generally harvested by a technician or by an end user via one of the Catch Point screens.  The screen usually requires an asset number (of the asset from which the MSL software item(s) will be harvested).  Once the asset number is entered, the list of currently authorized MSL items is displayed, and one or more of the items can be selected for harvesting.

The actual harvest takes place at the next Consolidation cycle.

Harvested software is eligible for credit.
