Returns

Just like licenses, there are times when entitlements are returned for credit.  Such returns are usually forwarded by the ASN Processor, however a return may also be entered through the MIE's user interface.

Returns are signified by either a negative quantity or price, or both.

When the MIE receives a return record, it searches previous owned records for a match.  The previous record must have an available unit count greater than or equal to the units to be returned, the price originally paid must match the price of the return, and the previous owned record must have been created prior to the record of the return.  If those criteria are met, the existing owned position record will be marked with units that must be returned.  If units to be returned causes an over-allocation of the current entitlement owned record, then entitlements will be de-allocated to nullify the overage.

NOTE:  It may take more than one run of Consolidate to first process staged returns and then perform de-allocation in order to bring the allocated entitlements into line.
