The MIE recognizes two types of additional entitlements:

1. Enterprise (also referred to as Included)

2. Optional

Enterprise -

Enterprise entitlements apply to, and are available to, ALL authorizations of all MSL titles to which the entitlement is linked.  The MIE tracks enterprise entitlements at a summary level only, since ALL authorizations are equally entitled.  Also, the Gen II Software Request Portal will allow users to exercise an Enterprise entitlement, but will not charge for the entitlement.  Enterprise entitlements are usually used when software maintenance is purchased for the entire enterprise.

Note that since Enterprise entitlements apply to ALL authorizations, there is no requirement for a specific user and/or device to have previously purchased the entitlement through the Gen II portal.  Therefore, Enterprise entitlements can be useful when desiring to enable pre-existing authorizations to be able to start exercising the entitlement through the Gen II portal.

Optional -

Optional entitlements apply only to specific authorizations.  The MIE tracks optional entitlements to the individual authorization record.  As the name applies, Optional entitlements are usually used for MSL titles that have software maintenance available as an option, whereby each user decides upon ordering the license when he/she also wants the optional software maintenance.  Only authorization records that have optional entitlements assigned to them may exercise those entitlements through the Gen II portal.  This means that the Optional entitlement must have first been ordered through the Gen II portal so that it could have been assigned to the associated authorization before any subsequent request to exercise that entitlement can be made.  The Gen II portal calculates prices for Optional entitlements at the time of order, as Optional entitlements can be ordered through the Gen II portal the same way licenses can be ordered.
