Scheduler

The Scheduler checks in with the MIE on a pre-determined frequency, as defined in the settings.  When the Scheduler checks in, it pulls down all the tasks that have been defined to be run on the workstation that is checking in.  The MIE can target specific workstations, or broad groups of workstations, for specific tasks.  The Scheduler assembles a schedule based on all the tasks that have been defined to be run on the target workstation, and ensures the tasks are run on the proper schedule.

If the Scheduler cannot contact the MIE, it will continue to use its last successfully downloaded schedule.  The Scheduler communicates with the MIE by XML over Secure Socket Layer (https) protocol.

Schedules, which are read by the Scheduler, can be managed using the MIE.  Given proper access, choose Clients (WDA) from the Asset Management left-hand menu, then Manage Tasks from the left menu.

When a task has been created, it can be added to a schedule. When adding a new schedule, the following attributes can be set:

Name

The name of the schedule, up to 40 characters

Description

The description of the schedule, up to 50 characters.

Client tasks in this schedule

List of tasks on the schedule. Click to add/remove tasks.

Include null assets

Check if the schedule is to include assets that do not report an asset number (which is retrieved from the registry).

[AND] [Include] devices where value in this column

The schedule settings offer up to three filter variables where the scope of the assets to which the schedule applies can be narrowed.  This field allows you to select the column whose value must agree (based on the operator select) with the value(s) in the matching field.  For the second and third columns (if configured), the results will be ANDed to the previous result.

(no label)

Operator to apply the the value in the selected column.

This value or list of values

The value in the selected column will be compared, based on the operator selected, to the value or list of values entered in this field.  When entering a list, separate each entry using a comma.
