Using a Pre-defined Connector

Depending on the local database you are querying there may be pre-defined connectors available to use.  A pre-defined connector is merely a SQL statement that has already been written and tested against popular database applications (such as Altiris or SCCM).  If you are attempting to access data from a common application there may be a connector already defined.  If you choose to use the connector, it saves you the step of having to write and test the SQL query.

To use a pre-defined query, you must have already created a database connection.  Select the SFT job to which you will be assigning the direct DB access (as normal).  Once you select the connection to use, check on the box entitled Use a pre-defined connector for this query. If any connectors are available for the database type defined by your selected connection, you will see them in the Connector drop-down.  View the available connectors and choose the one that fits the data you are trying to access (if available).

When you choose to use a pre-defined connector, it overrides the ability to write your own query and the query text entry will be removed from view.  If you don't find an applicable connector, uncheck the pre-defined query box and the query text entry will be made visible so you can write your own query.
