When creating a test profile using the Test Settings fly-out menu, you can adjust the following parameters:

Parameter

Definition

Name

Unique name for this test settings profile.

Blank Phrases

A list of phrases, each separated by a semi-colon, that mean the same thing as being blank.  These phrases will be used by blank tests.  For example, the value "N/A" found in a given field might be considered no different than if the field was left blank.  If so, "N/A" would be included in the Blank Phrases parameter.

Test Target

The data that will be used for the test. Choices are live data or staged data.  Production data in the main repository are considered live data, while data being collected by inventory or other catch point screens are considered staged data.

Perform asset number tests

Check if you want the integrity tester to perform the battery of tests aimed at the asset number value.  If not checked, no asset number tests will be performed.

Asset number checksum scheme

Causes the integrity tester to check for the presence of a valid checksum digit in the asset number based on the scheme chosen.

Check for duplicate asset numbers

If checked, the integrity tester will check for duplicate asset numbers.  Note, when using the integrity tester for inventory efforts, duplicate checking will be performed across all collected sites - not just the current site.

Check for blank asset numbers

If checked, the integrity tester will check for blank asset numbers (physically blank or having one or more of the Blank Phrases as the value)

Minimum length of asset numbers

If non-zero, each asset number will be tested to make sure it has at least this many characters.

Maximum length of asset numbers

If non-zero, each asset number will be tested to make sure it has at most this many characters.

Perform serial number tests

Check if you want the integrity tester to perform the battery of tests aimed at the serial number value.  If not checked, no serial number tests will be performed.

Check for duplicate serial numbers

If checked, the integrity tester will check for duplicate serial numbers.  Note, when using the integrity tester for inventory efforts, duplicate checking will be performed across all collected sites - not just the current site.

Check for blank serial numbers

If checked, the integrity tester will check for blank serial numbers (physically blank or having one or more of the Blank Phrases as the value)

Check these fields for blanks

Each field placed in the multiple-assignment box will be tested for blanks (physically blank or having one or more of the Blank Phrases as the value)

Check for different manufacturers for the same product description

Check if you want this test performed.  It will highlight records where the same product (face) description exists, but for two or more different manufacturers.  This test will often highlight spelling issues such as HP versus Hewlett Packard.  It will also pick up possible non-issues such as IBM versus Lenovo or HP versus Compaq (since both manufacturers will often use the same product description branded under the two manufacturer names.)

Check for different asset types for the same product description

Check if you want this test performed.  It will highlight issues such as a Thinkpad being listed as both a PC-DESKTOP and PC-LAPTOP (usually a result of an inventory taker falling into a habit of always choosing the same asset type.)

Check for duplicate computer names

Check if you want this test performed.  It will highlight computers that have been recorded under two or more different asset numbers.
