Audit is the function of checking to make sure that ITAM process is being followed.  If process is not followed, it usually shows up as omissions and errors in the data.  If left unaddressed for too long, an entire repository can be corrupted to the point of not being useful.  Audit is a very important function of any ITAM solution.

In addition to several reports, which may be used to determine if process is being complied with, there are also several specific capabilities the MIE provides for assisting in audit.
