History

Each time a catch point sources information to the MIE's staging table for Consolidation, it creates a record of history.  Over time, the history of a given asset can largely be told by the various catch points that sourced information to that record.  This history is often used to support various investigations into how an asset's record came to be in a certain state.  The history information is maintained in three separate tables on the MIE, two of which participate in reporting.  The following tables contain the history information:

Live table - this table contains live catch point records that have been staged to be processed by Consolidate.  There are also some records in this table that have been Consolidated.  Records will stay in this table until archived, at which time they are moved to the Archive table.  If the Force Immediate Archive setting is checked for a given catch point, then any records sourced by that catch point will be moved to the Archive table immediately upon successful consolidation.  If that setting is not checked, then the record will stay in the Live table until such time as that catch point sources a new record, at which time the previous record will be moved to the Archive table to make room for the new record.

Archive table - this table maintains previously consolidated records for historical purposes.  This table participates in reporting (the various MIE reports for catch point history pull information from both the Live table and the Archive table).

Offline table - this table maintains previously archived records for historical purposes.  This table does not participate in reporting and is only provided as a temporary holding area to allow clients to pull historical information to local databases via the Manage Local Backups capability.
