Schemas

The MIE allows importing data into a schema.  A schema is a pre-defined set of related tables.  Schemas are defined by ESI for your use.  For importing, you must use only schemas marked as Import/Export.

The MIE understands the relationships between the tables in the schema, and will allow you to import a flat .CSV file into the schema.  The MIE will automatically handle placing the right data from the flat file into the right tables, and maintaining the relationships between the data records.  The MIE can essentially perform the reverse operation used to produce the flat file from a source set of related tables.

In order to establish uniqueness for related tables, the MIE must be given a minimum amount of information.  As you set up the crossing of .CSV fields to destination fields, the MIE will check to make sure it has sufficient information to perform a valid import.  You will be given notices on the screen when you attempt to save the job if insufficient information has been provided.

If you wish to import into a schema but do not see it on the list, contact ESI for assistance.
