Merging HTML

The Gen2 SRP was designed under a similar set of guidelines as the Gen1 - the primary of which is maximizing flexibility to allow the portal to take on practically any look and feel.

To achieve this design constraint, the concept used in the Gen1 SRP was employed - namely the ability to merge input and variable information into an HTML design template.  The Gen2 SRP uses the MIE's Merge Tags feature. Merge Tags allows a custom HTML layout to be created and populated with various tags, that the MIE fills in at run time.  This allows practically any selection of colors, layouts, fonts, and images, resulting in a high degree of control over the resulting look and feel of the portal.  This allows the portal to match existing customer intranets or other systems.
