Handling Exceptions

During Consolidation, one or more records in the staging table may be considered unacceptable due to various constraints and business rules in force.  Those records considered unacceptable will be ignored and marked as exceptions.

To clear exception records, use the Staging Exceptions sub-menu option available under the Settings/Admin function within Asset Management.  You must have proper access to see the Staging Exceptions menu option.

You will be presented with all records currently in the staging table that have been marked as exceptions.  You must refer to the job log to determine why the record was marked as an exception, or you may hover over the Reason column to see a pop-up message of the reason why the record was thrown as an exception.

To view the actual log entry, click View (if available) on the exception record of interest and the corresponding job log will be displayed in a separate browser window.  Use the browser's find function to locate the exception reason(s) in the Error or Other Details window by asset number or by staging number.

Once you determine the reason for the exception using the job log, return to the staging exceptions window and choose to edit the record.  Make corrections as necessary, and save.

Alternatively, you may decide the record should not have been submitted for Consolidation in the first place, in which case you may delete the record.

Consolidate re-tries all exceptions on each run that is within the time window that ESI has set to re-try exceptions (usually during low usage hours), so your edits will be re-tried when exceptions are re-tried.  If they pass the rules in force, they will be Consolidated and cleared as exceptions.
