The MIE can export to industry standard Comma Separated Value (.CSV) files, or the fixed-field-length text (.TXT) files.  Export jobs can be performed interactively or they may be set to be produced and emailed to a set of recipients on a recurring and timed basis.

Generally, the export engine is called by a report.  That is, a general export job is set up, as is a report that produces the defined export.  Users access the export via the reporting module.  Performing exports via the reporting module adds the benefits of scoping and sorting - not available from the export design wizard.
