C<nnnn>AuthorizedSoftware

The Authorized Software table shows all software that has been authorized to be on a given asset.  A software item is authorized to be on an asset if a corresponding transaction record has been written to the Harvested Software table.

There are several columns available in the Authorized Software table.  Most are self-explanatory.  Some that have special meaning are defined below:

SWSerialNumber

the unique pseudo serial number assigned originally by the ASN processor

SWLicenseNo

the unique license number assigned by the MIE when expanding out ASN line items

DateApproved

signifies software items that were requested through the request portal.  This is the date the request was approved.

DateDownload

date software was downloaded and installed.  If software was discovered as a rogue, the date the software was discovered.

DateHarvested

if this column is filled in, it means the software was harvested from the asset and is no longer authorized to be on the asset.

DateScan

date software item was last found on the asset.  If scanning happens frequently and this date becomes stagnant, it could be an indication that the user has removed the software without harvesting it.

OrgID, OrgID1

Depending on the customer, one or the other (or neither) of these columns may be populated.  The combination of these business-oriented columns is meant to keep track of which budget originally paid for the software and therefore stands to be credited when the software is ultimately harvested and placed back into service.  Note that the association of a software item to a specific business entity can be different for each software item, and can be different than the association of the host asset to the business.

Serial_no

Serial number of the host asset

Number, AssetNumber

Asset number of the host asset

Multiple Records for same MSL item for same asset

The Authorized Software table may appear to have duplicate records of some MSL items.  If you look closer, you will see that all but one of the MSL items for any given asset will have the DateHarvested field populated, meaning that item had previously been harvested.  Theoretically, you would not expect to see the exact same software package re-installed on a machine after it had been harvested.  The MIE preserves historical records so that you can see that the same software item existed more than once on any given machine.  But studying this history, you can detect behavior such as the flipping of software in order to gain temporary credit.
