The MIE can be set to automatically determine the custodian of a given asset that is capable of being auto-discovered, and the auto-discovery can source the last login ID.
Trying to keep an accurate associated of which assets are assigned to which people is oftentimes a very difficult task. The MIE can assist by leveraging auto-discovery data. The following conditions must be met, however:
1. The auto-discovery data must contain the last login ID
2. The assignees table must contain the login ID of the assignee, and that login ID must agree with/match the actual login ID returned by auto-discovery when that assignee logs into a computer.
To ensure a technician or a temporary user, who logs in to work on or use a computer, doesn't get set as the asset custodian, the MIE uses an M out of N scheme, whereby at least M times out of N the same login ID has to be reported to be considered the asset custodian.
