Modifying Menu Options

The MIE allows changing the configuration of most menu options.

You must have administrator level access to change menu options.

To change menu options, click Change Menus from the Home page of the module for which you wish to make menu changes.

You will be placed in Change Menu Mode.

When in Change Menu Mode, most menu items will open a settings window instead of actually invoking the otherwise intended action.  Click on any menu option for which you wish to modify settings.  Make changes using the pop-up settings window, then click Save Changes.  When done, close the window by clicking Close this window.  You will be taken back to the parent window, which will then refresh to show any visible changes you made.

Continue to select other menu options, making changes, until you are finished.

Once finished, to restore normal menu operation, click on Restore normal menu operation.  The menu links will be re-established and the menu system will once again work as normal.

Note:  Changing menus may make certain parts of this help manual inaccurate.  ESI highly recommends changing menus only when absolutely required and only after consulting the ESI support staff.

Depending on your access level, you may change the following settings for most menu options:

Display order

Controls the order in which individual menu options are displayed.  Lower numbers are displayed first.  Note, entering a number equal to or less than zero will cause the menu option to be removed, permanently, from your view.  Once removed, you will not be able to access it in order to restore it.

Minimum access

Minimum access level required for a user to see (and use) the menu option.

Menu text to display

The actual text that will display for text-based menu options.  Will accept tags and HTML formatting.

Menu target

Can be used to cause the action performed by clicking the menu option to open a new window.  Enter the word "_target" to cause a new window to appear when using this menu option.

Menu HREF

Actual URL link that will be selected when the menu item is clicked.  Will accept tags and HTML formatting.

Javascript

Javascript that will be triggered by various events supported by the HTML anchor <A> tag.  Will accept tags.

Image files

A list of all images currently contained in the SiteImages area of the MIE.  The list is provided for reference and is not editable.

Menu picture

path and image file to be displayed for the menu option (applies to image-based menu options).  When correctly entered, the actual image will display to the right.

Menu picture when active

path and image file to be displayed for the menu option when it is currently active (applies to image-based menu options).  When correctly entered, the actual image will display to the right.

Menu picture when mouse hovers over

path and image file to be displayed for the menu option when the mouse is hovered over it (applies to image-based menu options).  When correctly entered, the actual image will display to the right.

Menu picture when mouse hovers off

path and image file to be displayed for the menu option when the mouse is moved away from hovering over it (applies to image-based menu options).  When correctly entered, the actual image will display to the right.

Text to display when mouse is hovering over image

Text that will display as HTML ALT text when the mouse is hovering over the image.

Image name

A unique name that will be used by javascript to reference the image.

Image width

Width of image in pixels.  The menu system uses this to properly space images arranged in a horizontal menu bar

Image height

Height of image in pixels.
