There is a system table with a master environment list that can be used during authorization analyzer rule making.  

In order to resolve customer specific environment values (maintained in the drop down menu) a screen is available to map them to the master environment types.  The menu is a fly-out option in the 'Asset Management' tab under the main menu item 'Assets'.

Each of the environment types can be mapped to a single master environment.  This allows for normalization of spelling variations and custom environments.
