Emailing Files for Import

Once an import job has been established, individual files to be imported via the job can either be uploaded directly via the MIE's user interface, or, as an alternative, the file may be periodically emailed to the MIE.  When a file is emailed as an attachment to the MIE, if the MIE can match the name of the file to a defined import job, the file will be pulled from the email, submitted for import, and the results emailed back when completed.

The file to be imported must be a .CSV file or a .XML file and must be named exactly as the file that was used to initially create the import job.  Files are emailed to automated@etelligentsolutions.com (production), automatedITAM@shi.com (reston), or staging@etelligentsolutions.com (staging).

For an emailed file to be processed as an import job, the following criteria must be met:

1.The email must contain only one .csv or .xml attachment.

2.The attached file must be named exactly as the one in the defined import job.

3.The email must come from one of the acceptable emails as defined in the import job.

4.The email address must be linked to an active account on the MIE within the customer that the import job is established (it must agree with the email address of at least one MIE user account that is still active and that user account has to be within the same customer.)

5.The combination of the email address from which the file was sent, and the name of the file sent, must uniquely match one and only one import job definition.

If any of the above criteria are not met, the email will simply be ignored and no error or other message will be logged.
